Five new hospital blocks, 150 dialysis machines, a drainage master plan, 100 electric intercity and interstate buses, EV charging stations, interstate buses, and three automated multi-level shuttle car parking facilities are among the major projects set to be inaugurated by the Delhi government as part of its day-long mega birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17.
The programmes, to be led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will begin with a ‘Thank You Modi’ event, followed by a mega blood donation camp at India Gate. The government aims to achieve a target of collecting 1,000 units of blood on this day, setting a new record. The current record is 350 units, said officials.
According to senior officials, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the projects at an event at Thyagraj Stadium.
“On the occasion of PM Narendra Modi’s birthday, the CM will lead a day-long programme. A ‘Thank You Modi’ programme will be followed by a blood donation camp at India Gate. An exhibition is also being planned where the government will showcase the works done by the Centre in Delhi,” said officials.
After the exhibition, Gupta along with Delhi Cabinet ministers, will hold a ‘Sewa Sankalp Walk’ at Kartavya Path, said officials.
The said projects also include inauguration of 101 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, nursing college and hostel buildings, a PUHC complex in Narela, a hostel for college-going visually impaired women in Timarpur, and a senior citizens’ home in Paschim Vihar.
The government also plans to lay the foundation stone for a project for Rajputana Rifles, automated multi-level shuttle parkings, and a cremation ground in Punjabi Bagh.
An organ transplant awareness portal, CM Shri schools, interstate buses, digital ticketing system and new education block at Ambedkar University, and 1,000 mass painting competitions across the city will also be launched.
CM had announced that the government would launch 75 different development and welfare programmes, during ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ — from September 17 to October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).
Gupta said that the fortnight-long Seva Pakhwada is a major step towards making the capital a ‘Viksit Delhi’. She explained that development projects worth crores of rupees are being launched during this period, with a special focus on reaching every section of the society.
The CM also noted that for the first time in Delhi’s history, such a large number of important schemes are being announced together, with a detailed blueprint already in place.
