Focus on winnability, AAP changes candidates for Narela & Hari Nagar

With just one day left to file nominations, the AAP has changed its candidates for the Narela and Hari Nagar constituencies. In Narela, Dinesh Bharawaj has been replaced with outgoing MLA Sharad Chauhan. In Hari Nagar, outgoing MLA Raj Kumari Dhillon has been replaced with MCD councillor Surinder Setia. The change was followed by on-the-ground feedback, said a senior party functionary.

“We are conducting a step-by-step survey of the candidates even after announcing the candidates’ list. The party keeps reviewing the performance of the candidates and their chances of winning in every constituency. During such review and ground reports, we found the winnability chance was less, so the party decided to change the candidates,” said the functionary.

Earlier, Chauhan, a two-time MLA from Narela, was dropped and the party had nominated Dinesh Bharadwaj from the seat in the first list announced in December last year. Chauhan is also a member of Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB) and Delhi Jal Board. In a post on X, he thanked AAP’s top leadership and said, “Thanks to the top leadership for showing trust once again, I express my gratitude to Kejriwal ji from the bottom of my heart, I will always maintain this trust of yours for the benefit of Narela.”
