A Delhi court Saturday postponed the date for consideration of cognizance of the chargesheet filed against outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, for alleged sexual harassment, assault and stalking of six women wrestlers, to July 7.

This is the second time that the court has shifted the matter to another date. Earlier, on June 27, it had posted the matter for July 1.

Investigating officer (IO) SI Pooja said that a supplementary chargesheet is likely to be filed. “The IO submits that the supplementary police report is likely to be filed, however, since FSL (report) and report on call detail record (CDR) is awaited, it is likely to take some time,” the court said. “Brij Bhushan has a BSNL number, so the CDR will take 10-15 days,” SHO Upender Singh also submitted.

“Be put up for consideration on cognizance 07.07.2023 at 2.30 pm,” said Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal of Rouse Avenue Court, adding that he needed time to read the chargesheet.
On April 21, seven female wrestlers, including a minor, had filed separate complaints of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation against Singh at Connaught Place police station.

The wrestlers had approached the Supreme Court, stating that police were not registering the FIRs. Subsequently, police registered two FIRs on April 28 that have at least two instances of Singh allegedly demanding “sexual favours” in lieu of professional assistance. The minor and her father, the complainant, later withdrew their allegations against Singh in a fresh statement before a magistrate.

In the 1,500-page chargesheet, police have mentioned statements of at least 22 witnesses from across four states.
