Delhi court allows Red Fort blast accused to meet lawyer at NIA headquarters

A Delhi court on Saturday allowed Jasir Bilal Wani, one of the accused in the Red Fort blast case, to meet his lawyer in the headquarters of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the case. Wani, who is currently in NIA custody is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, and an alleged co-conspirator and close aide of Umar Nabi, the man who drove the i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10, claiming 13 lives.

A total of six people have been arrested by the agency so far. On Friday, the Delhi High Court had refused to allow Wani’s plea and had granted him liberty to approach the trial court. The High Court had said that Wani had failed to show any order passed by the trial court rejecting his prayer.

According to the NIA, Wani was allegedly providing technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the bomb blast. He was sent to NIA custody earlier this week for ten days by Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna of Patiala House Court.
