Agriculture Minister Singh, who is from the BJP, has chosen to name the conference hall attached to his office after Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

Taking cue from predecessor Sharad Pawar, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has named a conference room in the Ministry in Krishi Bhawan after a historical figure. Pawar had named one of the conference halls after scientist Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose. Agriculture Minister Singh, who is from the BJP, has chosen to name the conference hall attached to his office after Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Bose and Upadhayay share one common feature now — each has a conference hall named after him — in Krishi Bhawan

Under AICC eye
The event at the PHD Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, where Congress vice-preisdent Rahul Gandhi spoke, seemed to be under the control of the Congress’s media management cell. A mail sent out by the AICC’s communications department, giving out the satellite parameters for live coverage, called it an “event of Indian National Congress”. The chamber in its invitation said still and video cameras were not allowed for Rahul’s session and that video footage and pictures would be provided after the session. The industry chamber in its invitation also addressed Rahul as the president of the Congress.

Icon Everywhere
Deen Dayal Upadhyay first made it to the BJP party letterhead after Narendra Modi came to power. Now the Sangh and BJP icon’s face is frequently seen on government letterheads. The government is celebrating his birth centenary. Upadhyay’s picture is now on official letters sent by various ministries, the latest being HRD. On Friday, the ministry shared a letter sent by minister Prakash Javadekar to all higher education institutions on promoting digital learning. Upadhyay’s face in a saffron circle adorned the letterhead.
