The 25th Battalion BSF camp, established in 1982, had been deprived of piped water supply since its inception (X/@gupta_rekha)In a relief for Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the region, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a new water pipeline at the BSF camp in Southwest Delhi’s Chhawla. The pipeline project addresses a long-standing water supply issue faced by personnel stationed at the camp and residents of nearby villages, officials said.
According to PTI, the 25th Battalion BSF camp, established in 1982, had been deprived of piped water supply since its inception.
Officials noted that the new pipeline will be connected to the Dwarka Water Treatment Plant and will run from the Chhawla BSF Camp to Phirni Road in Chhawla village, providing a reliable source of treated water to both the camp and adjoining areas.
The event was attended by local MLA Sandeep Sahrawat, senior BSF officials, and residents from surrounding localities.
Gupta also marked the occasion of Bhai Dooj with BSF personnel, describing the soldiers as “the shield of our country” and assuring them that a synthetic track would soon be built within the camp premises for training purposes.
“The Delhi Government is continuously working to strengthen infrastructure for soldiers, civilians, and rural communities. The government is prioritising projects related to the training and welfare of armed personnel,” she said.
While noting that the needs of the nation’s brave soldiers remain a top priority for the government, Gupta said the project will bring much-needed relief to thousands of residents and BSF personnel in the region.
Gupta added that during her recent visit to the Chhawla Camp, she had learned about the water supply issues faced by BSF personnel. “With this project now underway, the problem will soon be resolved,” she said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers, the CM said his example underscores the nation’s collective respect for its armed forces and the belief that “when the nation is secure, it can prosper.”
