Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday tabled the vote of confidence motion in the Assembly, days after he alleged that the BJP tried to poach AAP MLAs and topple his government.
Speaker Ram Niwas Goel admitted the motion and it will come up for discussion in the Assembly starting 11 am on Saturday.
This comes a day before the CM is supposed to appear in a Delhi court in connection with the skipping of ED summons in the excise policy case.
Last month, Kejriwal had alleged that he was on the brink of being arrested in the liquor policy case as part of a BJP conspiracy to topple the AAP government in Delhi and that the BJP was also attempting to contact AAP MLAs, urging them to switch sides in lieu of cash of up to Rs 25 crore.
Countering the CM’s allegations, the BJP demanded proof and said these stemmed from political frustration at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and threatened legal action.
Terming the allegations frivolous, a BJP delegation also demanded an investigation into the matter in addition to legal action against the chief minister, AAP minister Atishi and MLAs Durgesh Pathak and Dilip Pandey.
