Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s mother undergoes knee-replacement surgery

“The patient was admitted on February 20, 2023 and discharged seven days after the surgery, which was performed by Dr C S Yadav, Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement, and his team,” said an official from the hospital.

The official added that the stitches were removed on Tuesday and she was walking without any support whereas earlier she used to take the help of a walker.

“To prevent any risk of infection at the site of surgery, a patient is generally prescribed a course of antibiotics. In the present case, the patient did not have any other health issues besides knee pain, which was a plus. We usually consider the patient’s medical history and the medications they are on before recommending knee replacement surgery. This type of surgery is the gold standard for knee pain caused due to arthritis as it significantly improves the quality of life. As expected, the surgery was successful and it took us less than an hour,” said Dr Yadav.
