Manish Sisodia will be appointed Deputy Chief Minister again if the party returns to power in the upcoming elections, said Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal during an election rally in Jangpura constituency. Sisodia is the candidate for the seat. Sisodia, who switched his seat from Patparganj to Jangpura this year, was the Deputy Chief Minister till 2022. He resigned weeks after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation in relation to the Delhi Excise Policy case in 2023. He was in jail for nearly 17 months and was granted bail in August last year. “If AAP forms government again, it’s essential to ensure that the MLA from your constituency is from the AAP. If Sisodia is elected, he will once again become the Deputy CM in the new government. And if your constituency’s MLA is the Deputy CM, all officials will address your concerns over the phone. No officer will dare to ignore a call from a resident of the Deputy CM’s constituency. In this way, Manish Sisodia won’t be the only Deputy CM; every one of you here will feel like a Deputy CM,” Kejriwal said during the public meeting on Sunday. Kejriwal also said the constituencies from where BJP MLAs were elected in 2020 were suffering as no work had been done there. “Last time, BJP won eight assembly constituencies. They did not let any work happen in their areas. All eight of them made their assembly a living hell. You people should not make such a mistake even by mistake,” Kejriwal said. Sisodia is going up against BJP’s Tarwinder Singh Marwah and Congress’s Farhad Suri.
