The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been accusing the BJP as well as bureaucrats for stopping the ‘One-time settlement’ scheme to resolve water bill issues, protested inside the well of Delhi Assembly, demanding the bureaucrats be suspended and the scheme be cleared, here on Tuesday.
Raising the matter in the House, CM Arvind Kejriwal alleged the BJP is “behind all this and is trying to stop the scheme by putting pressure on bureaucrats.”
All the AAP MLAs entered the well of the House holding placards and raised slogans such as “Shame on BJP, take action against officers”, “BJP walon Kejriwal ko pani bill maaf karne do” (BJP folks, let Arvind Kejriwal waive off the water bills)” and “L-G sir, suspend the bureaucrats who are refusing to implement the scheme”.
Following the protest, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel adjourned the proceedings for half an hour but the AAP MLAs continued to raise slogans even after they were resumed. The speaker then adjourned the house for the day.
Meanwhile, Leader of opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri alleged that AAP MLAs “misbehaved” with him in the house.
Bidhuri said he complained to the speaker and requested him to take action against AAP MLAs. “If BJP MLA can be suspended for expressing their views, then action should also be taken against AAP MLAs,” he said.
