The air quality in Delhi has improved with the AQI now at 164, placing it at moderately polluted category. It has gone down from the 200 mark, which is the lower threshold for it to be classified as ‘poor’. The real-time Delhi AQI at 5:30 pm on Thursday was 245, as per the Early Warning System (EWS). The temperature at the time was 31 degrees Celsius.
Multiple areas recorded an AQI above 300, which means the air quality in these localities has turned ‘very poor’. Four more localities in Delhi are now in the ‘poor’ AQI category. The AQI reading is categorised as Good (0-50), Satisfactory (51-100), Moderately Polluted (101-200), Poor (201-300), Very Poor (301-400), and Severe (401-500). Thus, higher the AQI reading, the unhealthier it gets to breathe.
Wazirpur recorded the worst air quality with an AQI of 342. Anand Vihar and Dwarka, Sector-8, were close behind at 339 and 338. Mathura Road recorded an 311.
