Delhi: After Vishnu Gupta’s arrest, another Hindu Sena activist held for ‘breach of peace’

On Monday evening, a Delhi Police team had gone to the Kerala House to look into Gupta’s complaint.

A day after arresting Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, the Delhi Police on Thursday arrested his associate Mohit Rajput, who allegedly got into an argument with the Kerala House canteen staff on Monday. Rajput, a resident of East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, was detained at the Connaught Place police station in the morning.

Later, he was arrested for breach of peace for helping Vishnu Gupta, who had made a PCR call and claimed that cow meat was being served inside the Kerala House canteen. Both of them were later sent to four-day judicial custody by a city court.

Meanwhile, demanding the release of their leader Vishnu Gupta, Hindu Sena members protested at Jantar Mantar and accused the police of acting under government pressure.

Himanshu Yadav, vice-president of the Hindu Sena, said, “Gupta’s complaint was genuine, but the police acted against him only. The canteen said that it served beef, which is cow meat. We criticise government’s action…Let’s make it clear, we will not allow cows to be slaughtered in this country.”

On Monday evening, a Delhi Police team had gone to the Kerala House to look into Gupta’s complaint.

However, they were told by canteen members that they only served buffalo meat, but called it beef.
