DDA to offer 40,000 flats next year

The scheme will offer more two and three-bedroom flats compared to the 2014 scheme.

With 40,000 flats on offer, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is all set to come up with the biggest-ever housing scheme in December 2016.

This scheme will offer more two and three-bedroom flats compared to the 2014 scheme where 96 per cent of flats were one-bedroom.

Announcing the scheme, DDA vice-chairman Balwinder Kumar said, “The flats will be based on the green buildings concept.”

DDA officials said that currently, 45,962 flats are under construction of which 16,800 are at the planning stage. The bulk of the flats are expected to be located in Rohini, Dwarka and Narela where DDA has identified pockets of vacant land. “We could identify more pockets later,” an official said.

Meanwhile, Union Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu is scheduled to officially start the process of allotment of the 2014 housing scheme at the DDA’s Vikas Sadan headquarters on Saturday.
