The Delhi Environment and Forests Department, in its latest meeting, has reviewed the demarcation of the Yamuna floodplains and the status of removal of encroachment. The minutes of the meeting, made available this week, noted that the physical demarcation exercise will begin on September 15.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) confirmed during the meeting that it would initiate the process by erecting bollards, under the supervision of a joint committee comprising officials from its Revenue department, the Irrigation and Flood Control department (IFCD), and Geospatial Delhi Limited (GSDL). The IFCD has also been directed to share the Survey of India’s data with the GSDL, which will analyse it to produce a one-metre contour map for floodplain marking .
