The complaint was filed by one of the employees of Dabur India Limited, Chandan Aggarwal, head, taxation, with the Central district police on behalf of his company. In his complaint, he alleged that since October 4, the accused has been regularly threatening the company officials. The accused also said that he had a friend at Dabur who, he claimed, leaked personal financial information of the directors of the company to him, Aggarwal further alleged.

When contacted, Aggarwal said he had filed an FIR and was not authorised by the company to speak with anyone on this matter.

“Aggarwal further alleged that the caller accused the company and its directors of being guilty of tax evasion and threatened that if they didn’t give him Rs 6 crore, he would leak all the personal information of the directors of the company to the tax department and media, claiming that he will be given a reward of Rs 15-20 crore from the government for the same,” a senior police officer said, citing Aggarwal’s complaint.

Aggarwal alleged in his complaint that the accused was sending false defamatory communications through emails about the company as well as its senior executives to directors and investors of the company. “The accused started sending WhatsApp messages from October 4 and there was a conversation with him till October 20. He was also asked to share evidence with the company, but he did not do so,” an official said.

The complainant alleged the company had paid Rs 5,000 to the caller and asked him to produce evidence to support his accusation but he did not share anything with him. “The company suspects that some current and former employees of the company have conspired with the accused… the documents misappropriated or stolen by the accused would have been done from the records of the company,” the official quoted above added.
