The driver of the vehicle, 45-year-old Pradeep Gautam, has been arrested. Police said Gautam worked as a middleman, adding the car owner had given him the vehicle to sell it off to a buyer.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh, 34, a resident of Madanpur Khadar.
According to police, they received a call from a passerby around 8.45 am on Saturday regarding a fatal accident; the caller told them that he has spotted a bicycle and the body of a man lying 150 meters from it at Ashram, near the Bhogal flyover. The vehicle driver surrendered at the police station late on Saturday evening as police teams carried out a search to arrest him. The vehicle, with a UP number plate, is registered in the name of a firm called SDS Infracon Pvt. Ltd., said an officer. The owner of the vehicle, when traced by police, stated that he had given the vehicle to the accused to sell it off.
The deceased, Rajesh, is survived by his wife and two children. He hailed from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, and worked as a gardener at Jor Bagh.
