Constable tries to end fight,beaten with rods

A Delhi Police head constable and two others were injured when a group of men attacked them with rods at a restaurant in Seemapuri,Northeast Delhi,on Wednesday.

A Delhi Police head constable and two others were injured when a group of men attacked them with rods at a restaurant in Seemapuri,Northeast Delhi,on Wednesday. The head constable was assaulted when he tried to end a scuffle between the group and the owner of the restaurant Rasoi.

Police said the restaurant owner,Harish Gupta (42),had a personal dispute with a one Dinesh Pehelwan. On October 22,Dinesh and Gupta had a scuffle at the restaurant,which was settled after a compromise.

On Wednesday,Dinesh and his associates barged into the restaurant again and abused Gupta,police said. The argument turned ugly and Dinesh and his associates assaulted Gupta and other restaurant workers.

On the basis of Gupta’s statement,police said a head constable and his colleague heard the commotion and tried to intervene. But the head constable was thrashed by one Brijesh,from Dinesh’s group. The constable sustained injuries on the head and left arm. Police said that two restaurant workers — Akhilesh Kumar and Satyendra Singh — were also injured.

They were rushed to GTB Hospital,where they are recuperating. A case has been registered at the Seemapuri police station and a hunt has been launched to nab Dinesh and his associates.
