Congress may support SP or BSP in Gautam Buddh Nagar

Congress has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission calling Tomar’s act a ‘political conspiracy’.

After the Congress was left red-faced as its candidate from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ramesh Chand Tomar, joined BJP after nomination was finalised, its leaders met party president Sonia Gandhi in Aligarh on Friday.

Avinash Pande, in-charge of the party in Uttar Pradesh, has been asked to deal with the issue of not having a candidate in the constituency. The Congress is likely to ask its supporters to rally behind the SP or BSP candidate.

The party’s UP spokesperson Dhirendra Singh on Friday said the Congress unit of Gautam Buddh Nagar has communicated its displeasure to the high command.
