In an alleged hit-and-run case,a 21-year-old security guard was killed on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on Thursday morning.

Noida: In an alleged hit-and-run case,a 21-year-old security guard was killed on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on Thursday morning. Rohtan Singh worked as a security guard with a private company in Noida. Police said the driver fled after the accident,but the car was identified as its numberplate fell off due to impact. “Singh was walking on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway when the car ran him over near Sector-125. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. When police reached the spot,they found a numberplate. We have found that the car is a BMW. The driver of the vehicle,Ashok Kumar,later surrendered to police and has been arrested,” an officer said.

Rohini murders: Police announce cash reward

New Delhi: Commissioner of Police Neeraj Kumar on Thursday announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for information on accused involved in the murder of a 55-year-old businessman,his wife Rekha and their 22-year-old daughter Rosie. The three were found murdered in their Rohini Sector-17 home last week.

Unclaimed bag triggers panic at railway station

New Delhi: New Delhi Railway Station’s Paharganj entry witnessed chaos for around half an hour after taxi drivers spotted an unclaimed bag,which had an “electronic item”,lying near the escalator. The Bomb Disposal Squad was called in and the area was cordoned off. The bag was traced to a Nigerian national who had no passport or travel document on him. Police said the electronic device was an electronic safe. The man is being questioned.

Duo drugged drivers,fled with Innovas: Police

New Delhi: Two persons have been arrested for drugging drivers and fleeing with their Innova cars. Madan Lal Arora (52) and Ashok Kumar Arora (46) are brothers and live in Rohini,Outer Delhi,police said. Police claimed to have recovered five Toyota Innova cars and fake registration papers. During questioning,the two told police that they earlier worked as taxi drivers.

Water supply to be affected today

New Delhi: Water supply will be affected in many parts of South Delhi on Friday and Saturday as Delhi Jal Board will carry out maintenance work on major pipelines. The areas that will be affected include New Friend’s Colony,Maharani Bagh,Ashram,Taimoor Nagar,Kalkaji,Govindpuri,Okhla Phase-II,East of Kailash,Jangpura,Lajpat Nagar-IV,Kalkaji,Giri Nagar and Okhla Industrial area.
