Legal trouble seems to be brewing for Bollywood actor Suneil Shetty as a city court has sought his presence before it as an accused for allegedly threatening a stuntman over a financial deal. Relying on the typed transcript of the recorded conversations that allegedly took place between complainant Puran Chauhan and the actor-cum-producer,Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma found sufficient prima facie evidence to summon Shetty under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
A bare perusal of the typed transcript of the conversation between present complainant and Shetty as well as its audio conversation makes it amply clear that complainant was severely abused by him. Not only this,he was also threatened with dire consequences to his life. Hence, prima facie there is sufficient material to proceed against Shetty, said the court in its order.
The actor has been summoned for May 7 at the Karkardooma court.
The complaint was filed by Chauhan last year alleging that the actor-producer has been threatening and abusing him.
According to Chauhan,a physically challenged stuntman,Shettys production house Popcorn Entertainment hired him to get permission to shoot their film Little Godfather on railway premises and also for his efforts to get the railway charges waived from the Ministry of Railways for the shooting. According to his complaint,he got a waiver of Rs 25 lakh from Western Railways but the accused company and its directors refused to pay him his dues. They began issuing threats to eliminate him,if he insisted upon his payments.
Shetty had lodged police complaints in Mumbai against Chauhan, averring the stuntman had been making intimidating calls to him over a transaction that was called off due to the latters inability to get the job done.
