CISF halts Metro to recover stolen cash bag

A bag containing Rs 1.60 lakh cash was recovered by CISF personnel from a thief.

A bag containing Rs 1.60 lakh cash was handed back to a commuter after CISF personnel halted a running Metro train to nab the man who had stolen it and scampered off.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Noida City Metro station after a Madhya Pradesh resident R K Tiwari informed CISF men manning the area that someone has picked his bag containing the said cash from the X-ray baggage screening machine while he was being frisked.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) immediately checked the CCTV control room of the Delhi Metro and found a person taking the bag with him and quickly boarding a train.

The train was identified, a senior CISF officer said, and it’s driver was contacted over the wireless system to stop the locomotive, after which the suspect, a resident of Tagore garden, was apprehended.

Later, the bag containing Rs 1.6 lakh was handed over to Tiwari and the suspect identified as Jaspal was transferred to Noida police, the officer said.

Similarly, a mobile phone was also recvered by CISF personnel with the help of CCTV footage, at the same station few days back.
