BJP councillors climbed onto the podium in response to Mayor Mahesh Khichi’s request to let the house function.
Following this, the Mayor adjourned the house for 10 minutes. The house continued to be disrupted when it met again. No discussion took place.
As the ruckus prevailed, MCD failed to pass a proposal to automatically double parking fees across the city when Stage-II or higher of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is imposed. The proposal’s aim was to discourage the use of private vehicles when air quality deteriorates in the national Capital.
However, a proposal to release Rs 23.35 crore for setting up of polling booths for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections was approved.
