The CBSE begins its first phase of pre-exam annual counselling service from Tuesday. This is the 14th consecutive year in which the CBSE will provide counselling services to students and parents during the entire examination period to overcome anxiety and stress,a CBSE official said.
There are multiple modes of communication used to reach out to examinees,such as telephonic counselling,question-answer columns in newspapers,Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) as well as online counselling through the CBSE website,the official added.
This year,49 principals,trained counsellors from CBSE-affiliated government and private schools and a few psychologists will participate in the tele-counselling sessions,the official said. Forty-four of them will be available in India,while four are located in Dubai,Doha Qatar and Kuwait. For the first time,a new centre is also located in Japan.
The official said: Students can dial a toll-free number 1800 11 7002 from anywhere in India. While general queries will be answered by the operators,students will be connected to the principals or counsellors in case of exam-related anxiety or stress.
The CBSE has,for the third consecutive year,also arranged to provide counselling to specially abled children. The counselling will be offered till April 13.
