A car tumbled over from the Mukarba Chowk flyover to the railway track below in Outer North Delhi on Sunday morning, said the police. The driver of the vehicle, Sachin Chaudhary, 35, a resident of the railway colony in Ghaziabad, only sustained minor abrasions on his shoulder, they added.
The Samaypur Badli police station received a call to the control room around 7 am. “On reaching the spot, it was found that one Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car was found turtled on the railway tracks beneath the ring road opposite the Haiderpur Metro station,” said Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer North.
“Chaudhary said he was coming from Peera Garhi to Ghaziabad. When he reached near the stretch of the flyover that was over the railway tracks, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the pavement on the side of the ring road. The vehicle toppled over the railings and fell on the grassy slope near the tracks and then landed upside down on the railway tracks,” DCP Swami said.

A video footage from the site showed Chaudhary, wearing a white T-shirt and blood oozing out of his head, near his white Maruti Ciaz on the railway track, crushed from the back side along with the door of the passenger’s seat. The car’s bonnet was also completely crushed, and the windshield was shattered.
The vehicle fell near an abandoned blue Bajaj Pulsar bike, which had been lying on the tracks since last night. The owner is still unknown to the police.
“No accident or mishaps have been reported to police regarding the bike. The owner is being contacted to ascertain whether the bike is stolen or not. These two incidents are unrelated and did not occur simultaneously,” said DCP Swami.
