A day after a 57-year-old bureaucrat and his wife were found dead in their house in Southeast Delhis Kaka Nagar, the initial findings have revealed that the couple died between midnight and 2 am on Friday, approximately four hours after they had their dinner. Police said they were yet to get the final post-mortem report. K Vijay Kumar, who worked as advisor (costing) with the Food Ministry, sustained three grievous stab injuries and died of blood loss. Police said he sustained one deep cut on his throat, one on his stomach and a third in his lower back. He was reportedly attacked with a kitchen knife which has been recovered and sent to the forensic lab. Fingerprints from the scene have also been lifted, police said. According to police, scratch marks were found on his wife Sitas hands which strengthen polices suspicion that the case is one of murder and suicide. Their daughter Varanya, who had gone to Rajasthan for a trip with her friends, also gave a detailed statement to the police on Saturday. She told police that when she last spoke to her mother around 12.15 am on Friday, everything everything seemed fine. Varanya said she called her mother again around 2.30 am,but got no response. She said she did not call again that night as she thought they may have gone to sleep. When Varanya returned home and no one opened the door, she got in touch with her fathers colleague who told her that Kumar had not come to office on Friday. The colleague then informed police who broke open the door of the flat and found the couple dead. Sources said in her statement,Varanya also told police that Sita was short-tempered and used to get violent at times. She told police that Sita fought with the help at times and had set up CCTV cameras in the house to keep tabs on the help. The CCTV cameras, however, did not have a recording system, police said. The cameras were switched on only when the help came in for work, police said.
