Highlighting promises the BJP made, prior to Delhi and Lok Sabha elections, the AAP put up posters asking PM Modi to fulfil them first. Around 20-25 such posters were seen all around Ramlila Maidan, the venue of Saturday’s rally. (Source: Express photo by Tashi Tobgyal)
The AAP was quick to react to PM Narendra Modi’s dig at their party chief Arvind Kejriwal that ‘anarchists have no place in Delhi’.
On Saturday, soon after Modi’s rally at Ramlila Maidan, Kejriwal told mediapersons the BJP was scared about going to polls in Delhi. He also blamed the BJP for the President’s rule in the capital for the last 10 months.
“Who didn’t let elections take place (in Delhi) for so many months? Even now, they are trying to delay polls,” Kejriwal said.
The party chief alleged that the BJP does not have any “positive agenda” for the polls, which is why it was resorting to personal attacks on him instead of talking about issues.
“The BJP leaders called me a liar, an anarchist, bhagoda, dharna karne wala (a protester). We have never indulged in politics involving personal attacks and abuse. When we raised the issue of corruption, we spoke about the case rather than commenting on the person’s character. I will not respond to such personal attacks. Whatever I am, I showed in those 49 days,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal also said the BJP has given a certificate of approval to the AAP’s 49-day government in Delhi. “He (Modi) did not say anything negative about our 49 days of governance,” Kejriwal said.
Taking a dig at the Centre’s achievements till now, Kejriwal said the BJP had made tall promises prior to polls. He referred to BJP slogans on women security, full statehood to Delhi, inflation, corruption and black money.
“On corruption, he said the PM’s office was cleaned in seven months. If it took them seven months to clean just the PM’s office, we don’t know when they will reach your doorstep. Either they don’t know how to end corruption or they don’t know how to govern. They don’t even know how to protest,” Kejriwal said.
