Senior AAP leaders Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP-ruled central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of allegedly hatching a “systematic plan” to demolish all slums in the city. Targeting the PM , Atishi said, “PM Modi feels ashamed of the slums in the city, especially when his friends and foreign leaders visit Delhi. This is one of the reasons why during the G20 Summit, many slums in Delhi were covered with green fabric from the outside.” The AAP minister, while addressing a press conference, said that before elections, “BJP promises houses to people residing in Delhi slums, but after elections, their houses are demolished and these people are sent to distant places like Narela where there are jobs, no schools for their children, and no means of transportation.” Health Minister Bharadwaj, said, “. Centre’s ASI uprooted 2.5 lakh people in Tughlakabad by demolishing their dwelling units. They were rendered homeless.” Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva hit back and said, “. The Kejriwal government has not allowed implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Delhi nor allotted around 50,000 already constructed Rajiv Awas houses to jhuggi or urban poor, denying them an opportunity for a better life.”
