BJP to observe silent fast against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today
AAP to begin a door-to-door signature campaign against Centre’s “dictatorship”.

After resorting to mythological imagery, the battle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP to control Delhi’s political narrative following the resignations of former ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain will go a notch higher on Monday.
The BJP will invoke Mahatma Gandhi to keep up the momentum against the AAP government concerning the alleged excise policy scam. The AAP, meanwhile, kickstarts a citywide signature campaign against the BJP-led Centre’s “dictatorship,” which, it has alleged, put behind bars the former AAP ministers.
A gathering of over 125 BJP leaders, including MPs, MLAs, councillors and party office-bearers, will assemble at Raj Ghat on Monday morning to observe a silent fast at Gandhi’s memorial, demanding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation.
AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai will begin the party’s signature campaign from the Laxmi Nagar Metro station, after which the party intends to knock on doors across the city to gather signatures against the BJP’s “dictatorship”. These will then be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After being sworn into the Delhi cabinet last Thursday, newly-inducted Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi had likened their jailed former colleagues to Lord Ram, stating that they would merely carry on their work like Bharat had when Lord Ram had been exiled from Ayodhya.
“The Centre put Jain and Sisodia in jail in false cases but since we have a responsibility towards the citizens of Delhi and till the time both the leaders don’t come out we will take care of their roles, “Atishi had said.
On Friday, the BJP, which had taken to the streets to burn traditional Holikas symbolising the alleged scams perpetrated by the AAP government on the eve of the festival last week, released its version of Sanjay Dutt-Govinda starrer Jodi No. 1, superimposing the faces of jailed AAP ministers Jain and Sisodia behind bars.
Minutes later, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a veiled reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took to Twitter to caution him against considering himself to be God like the demon king.
“Hiranyakashyap had considered himself as God. He made many efforts to stop Prahlad from walking on the path of God, and committed atrocities. Even today some people consider themselves as God. Prahlad, who served the country and children, was put in jail. But they could not stop Prahlad then, nor will they be able to stop him now” Kejriwal had tweeted.
