Rama Sethi The CBSE results is the outcome of a long process of evaluation system and is a turning point for all students appearing for +2 examination every year. In the making of a child, school and parents play a vital role and are committed to provide high quality education and support be it financial or moral. Children should start thinking about career choices at an early stage. In the early years of their career development, tentative choices are made on the basis of interests, capabilities and values. Despite the primary role that parents play in childrens career development, school counselling programmes help in guiding the children. School counsellors should take strong initiatives by organising parent group meetings to apprise the parents of new career opportunities from time to time. At the middle school level parents should realise that this is the time to begin. Parents should not force on their children a career which the child does not want to pursue, rather have a long conversation, listen to the child, put across their views and leave the final decision upto the child. Things that might appear of little value to a parent as an adult might mean world to a child. If parents can turn the clock back on these occasions, and place yourself inside your childs head, they might be able to understand their child better. ACCEPT CHALLENGES I am sure children are aware and have full information of the Delhi Universitys four-year up undergraduate programme, which is another step to change the existing system of education at the university level after implementing CCE at the primary, middle and the secondary levels in schools. Change should be accepted. What we only need is to update ourselves. MY MESSAGE TO the STUDENT COMMUNITY Believe in yourself whatever you do ,do it well, sincerely and to your satisfaction. You need to be innovative, keep trying new things, and be different. Only your hard work will take you ahead. You need to have the passion more than any qualification. You have to find out what you love and then make it happen. Author is the Principal of St Marks Senior Secondary Public School,Janakpuri
