The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the Delhi Police on a plea filed by 2008 Batla House case convict Shahzad Ahmed.
Shahzad, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court for his role in the September 19,2008 encounter that led to the death of Special Cell Inspector M C Sharma, has filed a plea for bail as well as an appeal against his conviction.
The High Court has asked police to file a response by November 11.
Senior advocate Satish Tamta and advocate S Qamar, appearing on Shahzads behalf, argued that the alleged Indian Mujahideen operative had remained in jail since 2008,and had been falsely implicated in the case.
