The Nuh police, along with a team of about 20 CIA officials, nabbed Bajrang Dal leader Raj Kumar, better known as Bittu Bajrangi, on Tuesday after he attempted to flee from a street in Faridabad's Dabua. In a purported video of his arrest, a team of over 20 officers in civilian clothes, armed with lathis, are seen chasing Bajrangi from his home. The charges against him include assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty; voluntarily causing harm to deter a public worker from doing duty; rioting; and Section 25 of the Arms Act. As the Faridabad head of Gau Raksha Bajrang Force, Bajrangi has found a mention in multiple FIRs related to alleged hate speech. In multiple incidents, police have taken cognizance of videos of Bajrangi allegedly hurling abuses against a community. “Bittu Bajrangi has been provoking and instigating his fellow organisations to gather against the particular community in order to incite religious frenzy in his videos,” one of the FIRs, registered on July 4, notes.
