Two days after he was assaulted and his Kawasaki bike was destroyed, allegedly by four men near the Dwarka Expressway in Gurgaon, Hardik Sharma, 32, expressed his dissatisfaction with the police for not providing any updates on the case.

“They are not picking up my calls, giving any updates or arresting the accused. My lawyer told me that all the offences are bailable, so I am not happy with that,” Sharma, who is originally from Hisar, told The Indian Express.

Sharma was allegedly assaulted on Sunday morning by four men who were travelling in an SUV that drove recklessly past him and his group of fellow bikers who were en route towards Manesar. A video of the incident, which was widely shared on social media and prompted calls for action against the accused, shows the biker profusely apologising to the four men and pleading with them to let him go.

The police lodged an FIR at the Sector 37 police station late Sunday night, invoking Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita offences related to voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, rash driving, mischief to damage property, and criminal intimidation. Sharma said in his complaint that the accused were drunk and hit his head with a steel baseball bat, a blow that he survived because of his helmet.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Deepak Kumar Jewaria, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Manesar, said they cannot share details of the accused but would nab them soon.

Sharma, who works as a software developer with a popular food ordering and delivery company, said that as his bike was destroyed, he would have to sit out of the bike group’s outing next Sunday morning, a regular part of his life for the last four months.

Sharma, who has been in Gurgaon since 2023, also alleged that it took him 12 hours to get his complaint accepted. “The incident happened at 7.20 am. At 8 am, we reached a police station but kept getting sent from one station to the other for 6-7 hours. After we finally managed to get to the right station, it took another six hours to get the FIR lodged,” he said.
