Hours after poll campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections ended on Monday, Chief Minister Atishi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for Kalkaji, and her opponent Ramesh Bidhuri’s son were booked for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), police said.
The FIR against the Delhi CM came after chaos unfolded in the early hours on Tuesday at Baba Fateh Singh Marg where a crowd had gathered in her presence. A policeman, said officials, was allegedly assaulted by two AAP members while he was recording a clip of a poll code violation.
Ravi Kumar Singh, DCP, South-East, said, “On February 4 around 12.59 am, a gathering was reported at Baba Fateh Singh Marg, Govindpuri. Head Constable (HC) Kaushal Pal responded to the call and began videography. AAP members Ashmit and Sagar Mehta obstructed and assaulted him. A case was registered under sections of BNS for causing obstruction in the discharge of public duty and assault while on duty…”
Police said the CM was present in the area along with two cars when a crowd had also gathered and volunteers were stopping cars, leading to chaos.

“We have registered an FIR against the Kalkaji AAP candidate at the Govindpuri Police Station under various sections and further investigation is under process,” a police official said.
In several posts on X, meanwhile, Atishi alleged that men associated with her opponent Ramesh Bidhuri were roaming around in her constituency late Monday evening. The AAP alleged that Bidhuri’s son Manish was among those roaming around in the area after the campaign had ended.
Letter given to @DelhiPolice late last night, when they illegally took in custody two youth who were reporting and making a video of MCC violations.
No action was taken against those making the violation.
Atishi slammed the police on X. “The Election Commission is amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji’s family members are openly violating the code of conduct. No action is being taken against them. I filed a complaint and called the police and ECI, and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process.”
Punjab CM and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann also reacted to the case against Atishi. “Instead of filing a complaint against hooliganism by the BJP in Delhi, a police case has been registered against the Delhi Chief Minister on a complaint filed by the Election Commission, which is highly condemnable,” Mann said in a post on X.
“Is the job of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission to target only the AAP? People associated with the BJP are openly distributing liquor, money and goods, violating the model code of conduct, is it not visible to them,” he further said. In response, BJP leader Bidhuri said Atishi was in panic over her “imminent defeat “and suggested that she should not “shred the dignity of” the constitutional post held by her.
