More than a hundred people gathered in South Delhi on Friday evening for a candlelight march, demanding strict action against those responsible for the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists, at Pahalgam in Kashmir.

Expressing solidarity with the victims’ families, Brijesh Sharma, one of the protesters, said: “Strictest possible action must be taken against those responsible, that’s the message we want to send through this march. If it can happen in Pahalgam today, it could happen in Delhi tomorrow. How can we feel safe? Unless a strong example is set, they will never realise the gravity of their actions.”

Police personnel stood guard along the protest route, covering areas like Masjid Moth village and Leela Ram Market in South Extension II, Radha Krishna Mandir in Greater Kailash, Durga Mandir in East of Kailash, and Sai Baba Mandir in Lodhi Colony.

Radha, another protester, said, “If our daughters are not safe in this country, it is a national shame. We will do whatever it takes… we demand justice.”

Another protester, who did not wish to be named, underlined the need for solidarity. “Right now, standing with the victims’ families is what matters most. Our fight is to get justice for them, and we won’t stop until that happens.”
