‘Not joining any party,’ says Arvinder Singh Lovely after quitting as Delhi Congress chief

Hours after resigning as the Delhi Congress chief, Arvinder Singh Lovely Sunday said he was not leaving the party or joining any other party at the moment.

“I am only leaving the chairmanship of the party but at the moment I am not leaving the party,” Lovely said while addressing the media.

Underlining that he was not joining any other party right now, Lovely added, “I will however discuss the matter with the party members to decide my next step.”

Lovely resigned as Delhi Congress president, citing issues ranging from the party’s alliance with its INDIA bloc ally Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the Lok Sabha elections 2024 candidates the Congress fielded for three seats in the capital.

Coming close on the heels of Rajkumar Chauhan’s resignation, party insiders said more leaders likely to  follow suit.

This was the second time that Lovely stepped down from the post of Delhi Congress chief. He had also resigned in 2015 when the AAP swept the Delhi Assembly polls, winning 67 out of 70 seats.
