The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said on Monday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will “run the Delhi government from jail” if he is arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Following a meeting attended by party ministers, MLAs and senior leaders, AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said: “It was unanimously decided that if CM Arvind Kejriwal is arrested, he will continue to run the Delhi government from jail, as the people of Delhi gave him the mandate. There is no provision in the Constitution that mandates the resignation of the CM if they are in jail awaiting trial. It is clear that PM Narendra Modi and the BJP are afraid of him.”
Kejriwal was summoned by the ED last week for questioning in the excise policy case, but he skipped the summons.
