ARSD cancels appointment of DU nominee as principal

Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College is reportedly on a collision course with the Delhi University after it terminated the services of an Officer on Special Duty appointed by the University to manage the college’s affairs.

Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) College is reportedly on a collision course with the Delhi University after it terminated the services of an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) appointed by the University to manage the college’s affairs. The college’s general body terminated the OSD,appointed as officiating principal, and appointed its own nominee, the senior-most member of the college in his place.

The chairman of the college’s general body, which was constituted in July, called a meeting at 4 pm on Wednesday. In the meeting, the members declared the continuation of Dr Sandeep Sharma, the OSD appointed to the college on July 1,null and void, and appointed Dr G K Arora,a professor from Physics department,as the officiating principal.

“The GB met today and as per Ordinance 18,Clause 7,Sub-Clause 3 of the University Act,we have appointed the senior-most teacher of the college as the officiating principal and communicated it to the University that we no longer need the services of the OSD Mr Sandeep Sharma. The new officiating principal has started discharging his responsibilities today itself,” said Dr Vijender Sharma, former DUTA President and a professor in the Department of Physics at ARSD.

The DU appointed OSD,who is the member secretary of the college GB,did not attend the meeting and reportedly left the college just before the meeting was to begin.
