NEW DELHI: Two teenagers jumped in front of a train and died in North Delhis Narela on Wednesday,police said. Amar (17) and Nandini (15),a Class XII and a Class IX student respectively,took the drastic step as the families were against their affair,police said. The driver the train alerted police after the incident. No suicide note,however,has been found.
Notice to govt,school over EWS admission
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the city government and Sanskriti School on the plea of East Delhi resident Anit Kumar Bahuty,who had challenged the denial of admission to his two children,Aniket and Sweta,in Class VI and IV,respectively for the academic year 2012-13 under the economically weaker section (EWS) quota. Responses of the Directorate of Education and the Land and Development department has been sought. The next hearing is on September 24.
Pay water bills at bank branches from now
NEW DELHI:The Delhi Jal Board has launched its new revenue management system to help consumers pay water bills at 315 branches of ICICI Bank,Corporation Bank and Allahabad Bank. Officials said around 5.30 lakh bills in the new format have been generated under the system and distributed to the consumers. Payment can also be made at 33 centres of the Board.
Couple held for murder of aunt
NEW DELHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a woman and her husband for murdering the womans aunt in North Delhis Lahori Gate. Geeta Nigam (58),a divorcee,used to live alone in her Kucha Chelan house. Nigams niece and her husband were last seen at the house. Her body was discovered on Monday.
Filmmakers to find it easy to shoot in Delhi
NEW DELHI: In the wake of complaints from a number of Bollywood film-makers,the Delhi government on Wednesday decided to simplify procedures for giving permission for shooting in locations in the city. Chief Secretary P K Tripathi told the agencies concerned to work towards developing a simplified procedure for obtaining clearance for shooting of movies and documentaries.
EC rejects complaint against CM,BJP MLA
NEW DELHI: An office-of-profit complaint against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and BJP MLA Karan Singh Tanwar has been rejected by the Election Commission. Petitions were filed against the two that they held an office of profit as members of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and drew pecuniary benefits.
