Delhi High Court on Monday said that contempt of court proceedings should not have been initiated against the woman because she was frustrated with her married life.

New Delhi: Dropping charges against a woman for making an offensive remark against a magistrate,the Delhi High Court on Monday said that contempt of court proceedings should not have been initiated against the woman because she was frustrated with her married life. The court noted that the woman in question was under severe stress due to her failed marriage,besides the fact that she had been involved in several litigations since 1998. “Our magistrates have to sparingly refer such cases for initiation of contempt of court,first looking into the mental state of the woman who is under stress and fed up with the system,” the bench said.

Unregistered cricket clubs get right to vote

New Delhi: Providing relief to 66 unregistered cricket clubs in the Capital,the Delhi High Court on Monday allowed them to vote and participate in the forthcoming election of the Sports Working Committee of Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA). The court granted interim relief while hearing a petition by 13 cricket clubs,seeking its intervention to be allowed to take part in the election to the apex cricket body of the Capital on the grounds that Tuesday was the last day for filing nominations. The court will hear the matter on December 13.

Couple arrested for human trafficking

Gurgaon: Police on Tuesday arrested a couple and remanded them in judicial custody for alleged human trafficking. According to the police,Ijaz Ahmed Faisal and wife Aisha Fatima were arrested from Jamia Nagar in Delhi. It is alleged that the duo lured the woman,a resident of Gurgaon,by promising her a job. The victim is yet to be traced.
