Common room sought for women MCD councillors New Delhi: MCD Standing Committee deputy chairperson Sarita Chaudhary,on Tuesday,said she will raise the long-standing demand for a separate common room for women at the new Civic Centre with the Municipal Commissioner. The present headquarters at the Town Hall does not have enough space for such a facility. But a common room can be let out for us at the Civic Centre building, she said. 70-year-old man jumps to his death New Delhi: A 70-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of his house at West Patel Nagar on Tuesday morning. Police said he was distraught over not being able to repay a bank loan. Identifying the victim as Satish Anand,sources said the incident occurred around 10.30 am.He had some bank loans to pay,but could not. This may have been the reason for him committing suicide, a police officer said. Man arrested for killing acquaintance New Delhi: A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his acquaintance two days ago,the police said on Tuesday. With the arrest of Nirmal alias Lucky,police claimed to have solved the murder case of Rakesh,whose body was found in Nangloi on Sunday night. According to the police,Nirmal,who allegedly killed Rakesh as he asked for money,has admitted to the offence. The dagger used in the crime has also been recovered. MCD razes illegal structures across Delhi New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),on Tuesday,demolished illegally-constructed portions of seven properties in the Najafgarh zone,five properties in the Central zone and one in the Rohini zone. The Building department of the MCD took the action with the help of the local police. Rooms in five properties at Najafgarh were demolished by the civic body. CM flags off new train to Kathgodam New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit flagged off a new train to Kathgodam in Uttarakhand from the Anand Vihar Railway Station on Tuesday. The train,a tri-weekly express,will depart from Anand Vihar at 6 am and reach Kathgodam around 11.50 am the same day and,while returning,it will depart from Kathgodam at 3.45 pm and reach Anand Vihar at 9.55 pm. The new train will have AC-I,AC-II and AC-III coaches.
