In South Delhi, congestion on the Outer Ring Road near Savitri Cinema is mostly due to the encroachment on the ROW (right of way). The area witnesses heavy movement of traffic, and most of the office-goers take this route. During peak hours, the stretch gets completely jammed. The main reason for this is the encroachments, which spill onto the roads, making them narrow hindering smooth traffic movement, a senior police officer said. The Ring Road from Modi Mill Flyover to Nehru Place, near Bhairon Mandir,is another such stretch. The reason for this is the placement of the temple in the middle of the road. The Ring Road from Dhaula Kuan to AIIMS,near Safdarjung bus stand,is yet another cause for concern. The problem here is subway near the bus stand, which hinders movement of traffic. The width of the road for passage of traffic is affected, leading to jams. Two stretches on the Ring Road (from Moolchand to Dhaula Kuan, and from Ashram to Sarai Kale Khan) face problems as the road gets narrow due to the wrong placement of the FOB foundation. The Traffic Police has given its recommendations in this regard to the agencies concerned and a solution is expected soon. East Delhi has limited entry and access points which has many stretches facing congestion. Vikas Marg,Wazirabad and Durga Puri are the major points of concern. As Central Delhi is a major commercial hub,it witnesses largescale movement of vehicles. The major areas of concern are ITO and Connaught Place. While a proposal to construct a flyover in ITO is still pending, the stretch near Janpath Market witnesses a lot of congestion due to the construction of a Metro line in the area. Connaught Place, the entire market including Barakhamba Road, sees regular traffic jams as a lot of redevelopment work is on in the area.
