Another day of traffic snarls, waterlogging and road diversions in Delhi amid rain fury

As heavy rain lashed Delhi on Wednesday, reports of waterlogging were received from across the city, leading to traffic snarls at multiple areas.
A key stretch of National Highway 48 near Palam Mor in Southwest Delhi got waterlogged, leading to massive traffic snarls and causing inconvenience to commuters, including passengers rushing to catch flights from IGI Airport Terminal 1.
The heavy waterlogging in the area led to a long queue of vehicles. The waterlogging was a result of a stormwater drain overflowing, said officials.
The Delhi Traffic Police, meanwhile, issued a traffic advisory announcing diversions due to rising water levels of the Yamuna at Vasudev Ghat, which has affected vehicular movement on the Outer Ring Road from Majnu ka Tila till Salimgarh Bypass. According to the police, traffic was diverted at Wazirabad-Signature Bridge and Chandgi Ram Akhada-IP College red light towards alternate routes.
Further, the Delhi Police directed commuters to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Chawri Bazar Road till 8 pm, due to rain and a planned Rath Yatra from Ramlila ground to Sant Shri Durbalnath Samuday Bhawan. The Gurudwara Road and Arya Samaj area also saw traffic diversions as a religious procession passed through the stretch in the evening.
