All clear on G20 routes despite rain, says PWD

Following last night’s rain, PWD officials said there were no complaints regarding waterlogging and VVIP routes and G20 locations were clear.

“It was raining all night, so water stagnated at some points. We had stationed almost all mobile pumping sets, and mechanical sweeping machines on the ground to immediately tackle the situation. Ring Road as well as Rajghat was clear, all heads of the countries visited Rajghat along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, everything was clear around Akshardham temple. British PM Rishi Sunak and his wife visited the temple in the morning,” said officials.

Officials also added that all fountains installed in the PWD area were fully functional and street lights and decorative lights were in working condition.

Meanwhile, the NDMC said it received 70 complaints — 26 last night and 44 on Sunday. Issues encompassed minor waterlogging, fallen tree branches, and malfunctioning road lights. Nineteen instances of waterlogging were received from crucial locations including Janpath, Sikandra Road, C Hexagon, Copernicus Marg, Barakhamba Road, Harish Chander Mathur Lane, and Kautilya Marg. “Approximately 500 additional staff had to be appointed last night to deal with the rain. All issues were resolved quickly,” according to the NDMC.

MCD received four complaints regarding waterlogging from Delhi Gate, Sainik Farms and Narela.
