AIIMS security guards to be trained by Delhi Police
The first batch of 30 security personnel began their month-long training from August 6.

The AIIMS (All India Institute Of Medical Sciences) in Delhi has joined hands with the Delhi Police to train its 125 permanent security personnel at par with the training provided to police constables of the Capital. Under the initiative, the security personnel will be trained at Delhi Police Academy, Jharoda Kalan for a month.
The training is being provided under an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed between Delhi Police and AIIMS Delhi.
“The main objective of this training is to make the security system of the institute even stronger, so that the safety of the doctors, patients, visitors and AIIMS employees can be improved more,” said an official.
The first batch of 30 security personnel began their month-long training from August 6. They were provided training on security skills, surveillance techniques, visitor management, conflict resolution techniques, crowd control, queue management, fire safety and evacuation procedures.
Special training in disaster management, medical emergency aid, terrorist threat awareness, hospital-specific protocols, security of sensitive areas, handling VVIP movements and patient escort duties was also imparted to the security staff. Apart from this, the personnel were also trained in ethical conduct, integrity, legal acts, gender sensitivity and anti-harassment.
Soft-skills, customer service etiquette, teamwork and discipline, incident report writing, use of safety equipment, interaction with local authorities also figure in the training modules.
The security staff will also be provided in-depth theoretical and practical education on various topics like important emergency phone numbers of the hospital body. Lessons on how the security guards should behave towards different groups will also be provided.
“This training will help the security staff understand law and order, and learn how to quickly respond in emergency situations. It will aid in improving the efficiency and discipline of the security personnel.”
Physical and mental health will be prioritised in the training to ensure that AIIMS security personnel remain competent in every situation, officials said.
