Admission process to Delhi University’s UG, PG courses begins

The registration for PhD admissions will begin in the last week of June

Aspirants to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Delhi University can apply from Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh has said.

The candidates who took the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) can apply to 78 undergraduate programmes through the admission portal http://www.du.ac.in by paying a registration fee of Rs 250 for the general category and Rs 100 for SC/ST/PWD/OBC categories. The admissions to a total of 71.000 seats will be based on the CUET score.

The university offers 190 BA subject combinations.

V-C Singh said that the first phase of the admission process started Wednesday and the second phase of admission will commence after the declaration of CUET results.

“The portal will open again for mid-entry for the candidates who miss out in registering the first time around. An additional fee of Rs 1,000 will be charged from the students. Applicants may not be at an advantage in the second phase as the options of courses and colleges might be very limited,” he said.

The admission process for the new BTech programme will commence in the last week of June. The candidates must have passed Class 12 from a single recognised board and should have a score of 60 percent or more in an aggregate of physics, chemistry and mathematics and must have passed English as a subject of study at the senior certificate examination level. The admission will be done through JEE Mains 2023 and there will be a one-time registration and counselling fee of Rs 1,500, Singh said.

Admissions to post-graduate courses will also be done through the portal based on CUET- PG 2023 score. The university has a total of 13,500 PG seats for 77 PG programmes in 58 departments.

The PhD admissions, meanwhile, are being offered in 51 programmes this year and the registration process will start from the last week of June.

“There are two platforms— through UGC NET and through CUET. However, interview would be compulsory for candidates. The PhD admissions will start in July. The registration fees will be Rs 750 for General Category and Rs 300 for SC/ST/OBC,” Singh said.

Admissions under the School of Open Learning also started on Wednesday and the the last date of admission is August 31.
