No mobile phone was destroyed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed Friday accusing the Enforcement Directorate of “lying” before the judiciary.

The ED had, in March, submitted to a Delhi court that jailed former AAP minister Sisodia was involved in “large scale destruction of digital evidence to impede investigation” related to the Delhi excise policy case and had changed, as well as destroyed, 14 phones.

The former education minister was arrested in an alleged money laundering case related to the alleged excise case by the ED on March 9 and is currently in Tihar Jail. Reacting to the allegation, the BJP sought to argue that Singh’s allegation was to “create a perception of bias” against the ED.

“The ED has been lying before the court all this while. They said 14 mobile phones were destroyed by Sisodia but the reality is that no mobile phone was destroyed by the former deputy chief minister… In fact, five out of those 14 phones are in the possession of the ED and the CBI,” Singh alleged.

“According to an ED report, all phones are functioning and five out of the 14 phones have already been seized by the ED and CBI,” he also alleged, adding that the phone numbers listed by the agency included those belonging to Sisodia’s house help, driver and other staff.

He read out the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers of the mobile phones allegedly listed by the ED.

“They have made a mockery of an investigation. Those BJP leaders who have been alleging that Manish Sisodia destroyed 14 mobile phones and ED officers who defamed the best education minister of Delhi should apologise publicly,” Singh demanded.

Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that AAP leaders like Singh were aware that they were now in the dock and were trying to create a perception that the ED was biased against them.

“Sanjay Singh should know that the repeated changing of phones and phone numbers as well has been done with intent to mislead investigation agencies. Circumstantial investigation has now established how Manish Sisodia ran the entire scam,” Kapoor alleged.
