AAP to contest Delhi Assembly polls on its own, no alliance with Congress

The party led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal registered massive victories in the Delhi Assembly polls in 2015 and 2020, restricting the BJP to just three and eight seats, respectively

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi on its own, the party said Thursday after a post-Lok Sabha review meet.

The party led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal registered massive victories in the Delhi Assembly polls in 2015 and 2020, restricting the BJP to just three and eight seats, respectively.

Delhi has 70 assembly segments, including 13 SC reserved ones, and seven Lok Sabha constituencies. Each parliamentary segment has 10 assembly seats.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, the AAP had allied with the Congress to contest the seven seats in the national capital.

A discussion will also be held with workers of the Delhi AAP June 23, the party’s state convener Gopal Rai said.
