The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not inviting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the inauguration of the Airport Metro Express line extension though the Delhi government contributed 50 per cent of the Metro budget.
PM Modi inaugurated the Airport Metro Express line extension from Dwarka Sector 21 to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 on Sunday. The AAP claimed that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) did not invite the Delhi chief minister for the event.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi said, “Modi ji you are not only the Prime Minister of BJP but of the country, and guardian of all. Delhi Metro has been a joint venture between the central government and the Delhi government since the beginning. Both the governments have a 50-50 percent contribution in it.”
She added, “It is very sad that Modi ji is inaugurating a 2-kilometre-long stretch and did not invite CM Arvind Kejriwal.”
Further, sharpening her attack on the BJP, Atishi said, “After the G20 Summit, the BJP has been referring to PM Modi as among the top-most leaders of the world, and the biggest PM in the world. If you count yourself among the top leaders of the world, can’t you invite the CM of Delhi? I want to tell PM Narendra Modi, you are the PM of this country and you should step above the party line. You are the PM of this country, guardian of all the states. Delhi government has given 50 per cent of the budget for the construction of Metro projects ever since the Metro service started.”
“We are ready to walk and work along with the central government. Not inviting a CM, despite having equal stake in the DMRC, does not behove the dignity of the PM, ” the minister said.
