"She had been absconding since the complaint was registered. Chandr Prakash and others were arrested earlier this year", an officer from the Sector 5 police station said.
The Gurgaon Police on Wednesday arrested a woman, identified as Neetu Arora alias Gunjan, for allegedly abetting the suicide of her husband.
The arrest was made in Delhi’s Mangolpuri by a joint team of officials from the Sector-5 police station and the Palam Vihar Crime Branch.
The woman has been accused of abetting the suicide of her husband Gulshan by implicating him in a false case and subjecting him to harassment, police said.
According to the Gurgaon Police, on October 28 last year, they received information from the Civil Hospital at Sector-10 about a man’s death due to poison consumption. The deceased, a resident of Krishna Colony at Sector-7, was identified and his body was sent for a post-mortem as per Section 194 of the BNSS (inquest).
On November 2 that year, the deceased’s brother, Surender, filed a written complaint stating that Gulshan, who was married to Neetu since 2001, was “distressed” due to his wife’s alleged illicit relationship with one Chandr Prakash. Surender alleged that Neetu, along with Chandr, had filed a false case against Gulshan at a police station, causing him “significant mental distress”.
Gulshan and Neetu were living separately at the time of the incident. According to Surender, on October 28, 2024, Neetu’s lawyer had asked him to send some clothes for her children at Dayanand Complex in Gurgaon where Neetu lived. Gulshan and Surender went to the complex where they met Neetu and the children. Surender said that 20-25 minutes later, Gulshan’s daughter informed him that her father was frothing from the mouth. Gulshan was rushed to Aryan Hospital and later referred to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered on November 5 that year.
“Investigations revealed that Neetu, in collusion with Chandr Prakash, had falsely implicated Gulshan in a case and harassed him, leading to his suicide. Neetu, aged 41, was arrested, and police confirmed her illicit relationship with Chandr Prakash as a motive”, a Gurgaon police spokesperson said Thursday.
Four, including Neetu and Chandr Prakash, have been arrested so far. On Thursday, Neetu was produced in court and remanded to three-day police custody.
