8-year-old girl raped,found abandoned in Shalimar Bagh

An eight-year-old girl was kidnapped,raped and then abandoned in the Shalimar Bagh area of Northwest Delhi late on Friday. She had gone missing from a slum cluster in the area earlier that evening.

The police said a PCR van spotted the girl roaming near Singhapur village around midnight on Friday. When they questioned her,she told them about what had happened. A police officer said she was bleeding profusely and was in a state of shock.

Her house is barely three km away from the spot. When we asked her,she could not even tell us her address. We took her to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital,where a medical examination confirmed rape. She was later shifted to a shelter,where she is undergoing psychiatric treatment as well, a senior police officer said.

A police officer said the girl was able to tell them her fathers name and also described the area she lived in during the psychiatry treatment. Based on the description given by her,police teams visited the areas adjoining the spot she was found from and finally located her parents.

The girl told the police she was kidnapped from outside her house by somebody,who raped her in an isolated area. The police said she had given them a description of the person and they are trying to apprehend him.

A case under Section 376 of the IPC (Rape) has been registered at the Shalimar Bagh police station,N S Bundela,DCP (Northwest) said.
